- About the album: This is Prince's seventh studio album, released on April 22, 1985. It's the second album to feature his backing band, The Revolution. The album marked a stylistic departure from the commercial sound of Purple Rain, showcasing a more psychedelic approach with opulent textures and experimental elements. Prince desired the album to be appreciated in its entirety, leading Warner Bros. to delay releasing singles until almost a month after the album's release.
